Dap
Daniel is a Bay Area native raised
in Central Richmond in one of the
most notorious hoods in Northern Cali,
known as 6th Street. Dap emerged from
the streets of Richmond and into the
studio where he got the chance to
display his precise, on point delivery
& lyrical prowess to producers
and artists alike, and immediately
warranted comparisons to microphone
legends, Rakim & Jay Z. Dap is
equally talented on the other side
of the glass as a producer and engineer;
having produced tracks for countless
Bay Area underground artists, including
tracks for his own individual and
group projects.
Dap is also an original member of
the BroHydes which is a Richmond,
CA based group consisting of lyrical
heavyweights: Erase-E, Phats, Ez-Up,
Al West, Hustle Simmons, Flii Stylz,
Harold “Ace” Mason, Kleck,
& Maurice “Moe” Thomas
(RIP). In 2003, Dap teamed up with
the Bay Area’s Latin Boss, Mr.
Kee & Dutch to form the group,
F.E. a.k.a. F*ck Everybody. The group
followed up with an album release
titled, “What We Do” which
was distributed through a Universal
Records label affiliate and was received
with critical acclaim from the hip-hop
underground and mainstream alike.
In 2004, Dap teamed up with the Dread
Noughts consisting of Mac-Nab, Gunn,
T. Sawyer, Huk Feez, GRIN, Nasty Nate,
& Knight Train. The Dread Noughts
have a free E.P. for the streets now
in circulation, titled “It’s
Hot”.
In 2005, Dap recorded and wrote three
songs for the Lion’s Gate motion
picture and soundtrack, titled RIZE.
The movie documents the birth &
rize of a South Central Los Angeles
dance craze called “clown dancing,”
a.k.a. “crumpen.” The
soundtrack available through EMI boasts
a heavyweight lineup consisting of
Dap Daniel, Flii Stylz, and Christina
Aguilera just to name a few. The movie
has been released on DVD as of October
2005.
Currently, Dap has a limited addition
release of his mixtape titled, “2
tha Face” and has ripped beats
from everyone from Just Blaze, Dr.
Dre all the way to Usher & Ice-T.
The mixtape sounds more like a remix
album as Dap does Dre, Blaze, and
Usher proud. Dap recently wrapped
up the “West Bound Tour”
in which he performed in hip-hop venues
from San Francisco, Las Vegas, San
Diego and Los Angeles and left his
mark everywhere he touched the stage.
Dap is now recording his debut solo
album titled, RAWDICULOUS, which is
scheduled for release in 2008. Dap
also recently finished producing,
recording, and mixing the WEST BOUND
album. Inspired by the West Bound
Tour of 2005, Dap Daniel, Mikey Mo
"The MC", & Abyss got
together to record one of the hottest
Hip Hop album to come out of The Bay
Area. WEST BOUND delivers that raw
Hip Hop straight from the West Coast
with an East Bay mentality! Look out
for Dap in the coming months with
several projects that are going to
have the Hip Hop world take notice!
